A Hopi Elder Speaks
"...now you must go back and tell the people that this is the Eleventh hour. There are things to be considered... Where are you living? What are you doing? What are your relationships? Are you in right relation? Where is your water coming from? Know your garden. It is time to speak the truth. Create your community. Be good to each other. And do not look outside yourself for the leader."
Then he clasped his hands together, smiled and said, "This could be a good time! There is a river flowing now very fast. It is so swift that there are those who will be afraid. They will try to hold onto the shore. They will feel they are being torn apart and will suffer greatly. Know the river has its destination. The elders say we must let go of the shore, push off into the middle of the river, keep our eyes open and our heads above water."
"And I say, see who is in there with you and celebrate. At this time in history, we are to take nothing personally. Least of all ourselves. For the moment we do, our spiritual growth and journey comes to a halt. The time of the lone wolf is over. Gather yourselves! Banish the word struggle from your attitude and vocabulary. All that we do must be in a sacred manner and in celebration."
"We are the ones we have been waiting for." |

Greetings, Friends!
The IRIE BOOGIE started at my lodge on the top of Bear Butte, in Southern Humboldt County, CA in 2003 when my dear friend Garth and I moved in, looked out at the view and immediately knew - - this glorious experience of nature and life had to be celebrated! The feeling was contagious and our old friends, along with a supportive group of new friends came quickly into the fold and the Boogie's spectrum grows brighter and broader from each person's involvement.
The mission is a collective one, to BRING THE PEOPLE TOGETHER AND UPLIFT THEIR SPIRITS! In 2006, the party left its home and moved to the Southern Humboldt Community Park in Garberville, CA and the party now donates all its proceeds to improving and caring for the park's land.
The Boogie is an all day party on over 100 serene acres of meadows and oak trees, livened up with live music, djs, dance troupes, a kidtopia, top-notch firedancing, and human creativity at its wildest!
At night, while the fire pit stirs up tribal memories, the barn hosts up reggae/electronic/world beats………come and mingle with new friends and old, and party freely and responsibly. IDs are REQUIRED AT THE DOOR.
Although we have food vendors we also retain the house party vibe by encouraging guests to bring a dish for the potluck and/or bring a cup, a plate, and a utensil in a little bag so we can leave the park as it was first created – PURE - - do so and receive a free entry to the raffle!

Dress yourself in your WILDEST (and warmest) ATTIRE and explore your inner wizard, goddess, butterfly, rastaman! Enhance the experience with instruments and chants. The IRIE BOOGIE welcomes your freakiest, funest, truest self!
This year's THEME "We Are the Ones We Have Been Waiting For" - comes from a Hopi Elder's Message delivered in Oraibi, Arizona in 2003. Despite rising prices, political uncertainty, and Earth upheaval, let us not lose our hope to despair and rather REMEMBER THE IMPORTANCE OF GATHERING AND CELEBRATING THE DIVINE GIFT OF LIFE! Do not underestimate the power of ceremony, of ritual, of intentional gathering to heal the fragmentation of modern life. The Irie Boogie seeks to fill that void with LOVE.
The budget is tiny, but the heart is big and this event is made possible souly by community donations and old-fashioned volunteerism. MUCH RESPECT !
